Spring is nearly here for those of you in the northern hemisphere and with it brings new things to OpenChecklist.

Along with the new logo will be a set of updated graphics. Next you will be asking when will we see them?
The answer to that is Saturday March 23rd. On that day from 8am CDT to 12noon CDT OpenChecklist will be offline for maintenance.

In addition to the graphics changes, an updated password storage method will be implemented. It will require a password reset after the maintenance has completed. An email asking you to reset your password will automatically be sent at the end of maintenance.

OpenChecklist is here to stay. 2012 has seen many milestones accomplished:

Broke 2.5 million card mark
Now over 45,000 sets
Kept up-to-date with all of the new 2012 releases for Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey
Updated players for Basketball and Hockey up to the 2011/12 season, Baseball updated for the 2012 season

Football Players Missing Birth Dates

We have a list of Football players from 2006-2011 ready for import, but can't do it yet. Many of our currently listed Football players are missing their birth date. The birth date is a crucial piece of data that keeps duplicate players from being created. Inputting all of the missing birth dates is a large task. Would you like to take a letter and work on the players that have a last name starting with that letter?

This Google Docs spreadsheet is how we are tracking this project. Send us Feedback about what letter you would like to work on and we will put your username down. Once this project is complete we can import the pending list.

2012 Topps U.S. Olympic Team

Many collectors call various other websites their hobby home. Forums such as TheBench, TradingCardCentral, TradingCardZone, SportsCardForum, Clouts'N'Chara. OpenChecklist is primary goal is to be the best tool to manage your hobby inventory. To that end we want to make it easier to post your Trade List, your Sale List, or your Want List at these and other community driven websites.

Today we have pushed out a new OpenChecklist feature. From any Set, Player/Character, or Team page you will see links for Lists just below the links for "My Checklist / My Inventory / My Wantlist". These links are Trade List, Sale List and Want List. These links generate pre-formatted lists in the markup code of your choice. Currently supported is vBcode, bbcode, wiki and wordpress.

The Trade List only includes inventory items marked For Trade. The Sale List only includes inventory items marked For Sale and places your price at the end of the line. Both of these Lists will include a multiple count if you have multiples. The Want List does not include card that are marked Inbound. All three List types when generated from a Set can optionally include the related sets. For example, if I was on the 2012 Topps baseball Base set and viewing my trade list, checking the check box will include the trade lists for all the inserts for 2012 Topps baseball.

By default the Lists will be generated in vBcode. If you have a preferred format, you can set your own personal default in the Clubhouse, under Preferences. Don't see a format you'd like to have? Send us Feedback on this new feature and we will do our best to add it.

There are a few missing 2010 baseball sets due to lack of data. We will be continuing to look for more information on those while we move on to 2011. It is a good feeling to be closing the data gap on at least one sport. We continue to look for volunteer experts in other subject areas.

2012 UFC Knockout

This past month OpenChecklist added two people to our Team.

Daclyde will be focusing on data corrections and additions in the area of Baseball Oddball/Food Issues/Foreign Leagues.
Mjda will be working on data corrections and additions for Football.

A few bugs have been fixed along the way. Many thanks to erdoro for pointing out the missing "Update" link to edit your user profile. Keep that feedback coming!

Our new code is ready for primetime. We've been able to cover 95% of the existing features and add some new ones.

OpenChecklist will go down for maintenance on January 31st. The site will return on February 1st. All users will receive an email to reset their passwords after the switch. If you used the beta site all of your data will be overwritten during the switch to the most current data from the old website. One exception: all submitted images will be retained.

Clubhouse - an overview of your latest activity
Image submission - card scans and other images can be uploaded. Once approved they are publicly viewable.
Notifications - now an email will be sent when there is a News posting, uploaded images approved, or feedback updated. You can turn each of these off in your profile.
User Updates - all users can make changes to database items at will. All items have a revision history so that admins can revert incorrect changes.

It has been a tough summer but we are still here and proving it with another update.

You may have noticed that the recent updates have been baseball focused. That is due in part to OpenChecklist being a one man show. Want to see your sport updated? Contact us for more details.

Here's an update focused on 2007 Baseball products.

This update also includes many fixes submitted by you, the users of OpenChecklist. Soon it will be even easier to submit updates. Under every item will be an update link that takes you to a form where you can enter changes. Submitting that form will put the changes in the queue to be approved by staff. Once approved the changes will be included in the next update.

Also on our list of improvements will be email notifications. For example: when there is a respond to your feedback or when a change is approved. We will make sure you have control over what notifications you receive based on your profile settings.
